1960 Renault Dauphine by Justin Cashmore
Justin Cashmore, a car enthusiast with a penchant for unique builds, has transformed a 1960 Renault Dauphine into an award-winning showpiece. Rescued from the California desert, this Dauphine features extensive modifications including a custom chassis, carbon-fiber widebody, and a mid-engine VR6 swap from a Volkswagen GTI. Cashmore, who has developed his skills and style by working on various cars during his time stationed in Japan, Italy, and Florida with the Navy, executed a right-hand-drive conversion and crafted a 22-inches-wider carbon-fiber body by hand. The build impressed the judges at the 2024 SEMA Show Car Contest, securing the grand prize. Its bespoke push rod/cantilever suspension system, along with NASCAR sway bars and a protective roll cage, highlight Cashmore's dedication and ingenuity. Displayed prominently at the SEMA Show, this project underscores Cashmore's talent for turning discarded cars into showstoppers, reflecting his deep engagement with automotive culture.
