2003 Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 8 by Cameron Soules

Cameron Soules has embarked on a formidable drag racing venture with his 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 8, aiming to surpass the local quarter-mile record of 9.1 seconds at 156mph. This Evo 8, with a foundation built on the renowned 4G63 engine, is packed with performance-oriented modifications. Cameron's journey began with a purchase through Facebook Marketplace, where he acquired a Tarmac Black Evo, albeit with hidden imperfections. Despite initial setbacks, including fuel system issues and transmission problems, Cameron persevered and began transforming the car with a focus on drag strip performance. The heart of this build is a heavily modified 4G63 engine, boasting components like custom outlaw pistons, aluminum rods, GSC S2 cams, and a 2.0-liter long rod configuration. The Precision 6875 turbo and dual Turbosmart wastegates enhance its power delivery, achieving 1100whp. Complementing these upgrades, the Evo features a Shep Trans Stage 1 transmission, an Exedy triple-disc clutch, and STM drag brakes. Paired with a Billet CAE shifter and D2/STM drag spec coilovers, Cameron's Evo is poised to turn heads on the strip, maintaining its street-legal status with factory-optioned Recaros and subtle exterior tweaks.
